Entropy Theory: Order and Disorder

On the basis of entropy theory ,there is a rule that everything in the universe should obey, which is from order to disorder. There is nothing could exist forever ,even the universe will go to an end someday in the distant future. However ,during the transformation form order to disorder ,the total energy will remain constant. So the total energy in the universe will maintain at a constant volume. Although the energy can neither be created nor destroyed , it can transfer to another kind of energy, which makes energy become the basic component of the universe.

Energy is everywhere ,although it is invisible for us, it does exist in different form around us ,such as electric energy ,solar energy ,heat energy and nuclear energy.Energy also exist in human body ,which is a complex machine enable to transfer one kind of energy into another .When people eat food ,the body will turn the energy of the food into the energy which provide power of body movement through a series of complex chemical reactions. After discovering and understanding the energy theory, people started to manipulate it to bring benefits to our life.

Electricity is an energy which changed the world science its discovery.

Electricity is a kind of energy which occurs in the nature,so it was not invented but discovered. But the question who is the person found electricity has many different theory. There are lots of people believed that Benjamin Franklin is the one who deserve the credit of discovering electricity, but his experiments only contribute to find the connection between electricity and lightning. As a matter of fact,in about 600BC,the Ancient Greeks first found that rubbing fur on amber would cause an attraction between, which is called static electricity nowadays. In this case ,Ben Franklin only proved that lighting and electric spark are the same thing.

After the electricity was found and proved really exist in our world ,scientists try to manipulate this kind of energy to our life.Electricity first became viable for use in science and technology in 1831,when electric dynamo was invented by Michael Faraday. The dynamo actually solve the problem of generating electric ,but only for a small number of requirement ,it can not fill the need of the public. After Swan and Edison set up their company to produce the filament lamp, Edison used his direct-current system(DC) to supply power which lighted the first New York electric street lamps in 1882.This is the first step of electricity being widely use among the public, which also make people realized that what an amazing energy the electricity is ,also ,the ability of it in the future was far beyond people’s imagination.

With the great development of electricity,it has became the most important energy for human being. The discovery of electricity totally changed the world, it is the key part to modern technology and most of the things we use in daily life could not work without electricity.

We divide our energy use into 4 daily requirements: residential, commercial, transportation, and industrial. Heating and cooling systems in our homes require electricity, office buildings need lights to operate, many cars and public transportation systems use electricity to work, and manufactures need electricity to turn the machine on to produce products, which makes electricity became the main energy which could fill the need for all those things.

In today's culture, electricity is an important part of a society. Imagine a modern world without electricity--- factories shut down, phones and computers go dead, traffic turn into a mass, food decays in refrigerators Â- to accurately observe how power-dependent our society has become. However, electricity is a kind of continuous developing technology, and the trends one currently associates with electricity and electricity generation are far away from what it should be.We can not imagine what electricity capable of in the future .Along the way, it has been shaped by a variety of non-technological factors: economic, political, social, environmental and so on.

Nuclear energy is a powerful energy ,but it could be dangerous sometimes.

Nuclear energy is an newly developed energy in the last century.Actually, the unclear energy was not discovered by one person, there were a number of scientists have contribution to it.Although Albert Einstein’s famous equation E=MC2 shows that a huge amount of energy can be gain bu splitting the mass of an object, there is no way to test equation in the lab at that time. After French scientist discovered radioactivity in 1896, three European physicist Fritz Strassmann , Lise Meitner and Otto Hahn discovered the unclear chain reaction theory and finally proved is possible. After that ,nuclear development went to a total different way----unclear weapon. Two nuclear bombs was successfully developed and dropped them on Japan,1945,which finally devastated two cities ,with up to 250000 people dead.Since when, the public realizes that how powerful is unclear energy and how dangerous it is.

In 1951,an liquid-metal cooled reactor was attached to a generator in Idaho, which produced the first nuclear-generated electricity.Although this technic was firstly used in the submarines, the Soviet Union opens the first non-military electricity producing reactor soon after. After that ,through the 60s and 70s ,more and more nuclear reactors were built for making electricity, which produce cheap and emission-free electricity, and also ,it worked very well.

The unclear power is competitive relative to other electricity sources and offers protection from the volatility of fossil fuel and CO2 prices.Raw materials represent a very small part of the total cost. A doubling in the price of uranium would only increase production costs by about 5%.And it also helps in the fight against climate change.About 400 reactors were built through 1970 and 1990, but increased just 14.4% between 1990 and 2008. However, nuclear power generation grow about 37% between these 18 years, mainly due to advancements in reactor productivity.

When people start enjoying the benefits which nuclear energy brings, they also start to ignore the most important part of operating nuclear energy. However ,a series of disasters brought the public to reality.Three Mile Island accident , The explosion of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster made people reconsider the safety of nuclear power.People start to redesign the unclear power plane and estimate the unknown situation the power station will face in the future and find the solution.

Nuclear energy is a powerful and useful energy for people, though it was newly developed and applied into our life ,we are looking forward to its capability in the future. On the other hand ,we can not ignore the safety of using nuclear energy, which can be easily turned into disasters.

Energy is the component part of the world ,we can neither create nor destroy it. Energy does not just make our lives more convenient and comfortable, in many ways it’s indispensable for our survival. With proper uses, energy can be manipulated to bring benefits to people. We use energy to build equipment to develop our life.People should remember energy is restricted, they can not be used forever. It is impossible to reduce energy consumption to zero because of the lifestyle needs that people have in modern society. It is important that everyone does their part to learn as much as they can when it comes to understanding the importance of energy conservation , and applying the knowledge to daily life. You might not see it, but you can feel conserving energy will improve the world.
