Access to the internet has the occurrence of unfair practice at British Universities. Discuss.

Introduction

Educational standard of the British Universities is one of the recognised standards in the world. It is recognised at the international level because it is not exclusively based on the bookish studies. It is purely measuring on the practical analysis & the perspective study of the surrounding environment. It is research based giving in depth focus on the rationality of the subject area & its measurement of impact in the business analysis. Different academic assignment is required to prepare by the students based on the planning & research objectives. An internet application is one of the easily accessible modes for the purpose of the data gathering in the business study. It can be feasible to access data from the different backgrounds on the variety of topics of the research area of activity in the business. As per the academic norms of the university in the custom of education, student can search & access information in the different directions of the study & be focused on the up gradation of their knowledge in the relevant area of activity of the search area through the regular completion of the casework in the precise direction. However, it is observed that students are not understanding this fact precisely & making use of the way of an unfair practice in the preparation of their academic work. Many times they used to show the reluctance towards the access of the data & information & simply making imitation of the data available on the website in order to complete their coursework. It is the trend observed in the overseas students to avoid the study work in UK & spend maximum time in the external work in order to earn money. In this motive they can't give an enough time to their academic coursework & just simply adopts the unfair route to complete the course, which is a serious academic crime as per the education law in UK & will attract the serious penal provisions & punishments.

This is an exploratory academic research giving focus on the use of an internet applications leading to an unfair practices at the British Universities. The research is purely of the secondary nature. The research is showing the impact of the trend of the education system in British Universities on the student with building the effective relationships of means & ends towards the projected area of activity in the business. Examples of the unfair practices are focused through the software & internet access with using the technique of the systematic sampling. Methodology applications are divided in to the following activities:

Primary data is gathered with taking interview of the subject professor of the frameworks of the research. Certain observations on the software's of the different college were made in order to collect the data about the unfair practices in the academic work in UK. Secondary data is given the major priority in the research activity. Secondary data is gathered with the help of the review of the different books, journals, articles, magazines, literatures to gather information in the research activity. Internet access has been done for taking help of the imperative data of the research work. Survey through the different libraries for gathering of the books & article for the research work found helpful in the study.

Gathered data is analysed with focusing on the results of the systematic sampling method if the instances of an unfair practices. Focus is made on the causes, effects, types of the unfair practices through the internet applications in the academic studies. Analytical review of the unfair practice procedure as per the regulation of the British University had gone through for the systemic analysis of the cause & effect relationships had gone through for the systematic analysis of the cause & effect relationship in the coursework preparations.

Main Body

Applications on the internet are the easily accessible media of information gathering as a resource centre, it promotes the business - it helps the administration - it secures the research - it strives the academic development - it measures the goals- it builds the strategy- it makes the Organisation & Management, but in the educational development of the UK Universities many times it create plunder by making greed in the mind of the student to imitate information from there to complete the casework & research analysis instead of doing own attempts. [Hawe, 2009] Internet applications are the resources planning measure in the business, it has wide adaptability, activity, measurability, sustainability, quality, feasibility, technicality, suitability with the access of the data, it covers the compatibility of the academic coursework with giving the capability to the students to measure their suitability in the academic planning, however, when it shows the wrong utility to complete the coursework from the students, it is creating impossibility of offences which can be resulted in to the heavy penalty. [Elkine, 2008] Rapid increase in the unfair practices in the coursework leading to urge of the enhancement of the plundering of the university in the academic courses in order to achieve the degree of UK without any efforts leading to the criminal offences as per the education laws & procedures. [Raman, 2007] Many research have been done on this area of the research, they are coming at the conclusion that internet applications are the good resource of the information for the students for the sake of the latest knowledge updating & increasing capability of the resource mobilisation. However, attitude of the students towards understanding the value & meaning of the education system in UK deteriorates the targets of the universities in the student developments. In the academic research of the Hussein Roger & his associates in East London, many students are coming in the intension of work in UK on the student visas, they are just getting admit in the college as a regular formality & concentrating on doing their external work for earning money, as the value of currency in pound is quite higher in the other countries, then students are intentionally involved in the external works to earn the maximum money in the home countries, in this idea they can't get the probable time to complete their academic coursework as per the norm of the British University, they are using the way of copying the work, showing other students submitted work as own work, certainly doing academic misconducts in exams.[Roger, 2006] Unfair practise through the internet applications is a serious academic offence under the terms of British Universities, they can impose serious restrictions & punishments on such a student through the way of the award of Zero marks & resubmission of the coursework module, of which repeated practice can be leading to the termination of the student from the academic course with seizing of the fees paid .[Mobin, 2005]

The applications of internet are the suitable way of accessing of the data for the purpose of executing the academic curriculum as per the norms of the British Universities. It develops the students in the practical environment of the business with coming out of the bookish studies. For the measurement of the practical study works students are compiled to do their academic coursework assignment based on the surrounding business environment & research analysis. In the preparation of the work internet access is found to be a sofesticative simple way of the academic data gathering for the research. It is the guideline of the British Universities that student should access the multiple data from the internet websites, understand it and use it in their own research work as per the own understanding & knowledge. But students are not taking this fact seriously & used to break the university regulations with making the unfair use of the available data on the internet by copying, misleading, misrepresenting in their own work. Exact copy of the data in the own work is called as the Plagiarism. Misleading is the misconduct of the exams through use of mobile phones, pagers, in the exam office, Misrepresenting of the work previously submitted by a student in the own name is known as the Collusion. All types of the unfair practice are serious academic offences as per the educational law in UK. It is leading the students to penal provisions, even termination from the educational institute in the case of the repetition of the crime.

Following are the instances of the unfair practices:

Instances Scenario No 1 [*6]

Internet Information: www.wales.ac.uk/en/Study

Any student enrolled on a validated programme leading to an award of the University of Wales is subject to the University's Unfair Practice Procedure| .

Unfair Practice can be defined as an offence whereby a student gains for him/herself an unpermitted advantage in an assessment or examination. Most commonly Unfair Practice occurs in the form of cheating in an examination, copying from another source (perhaps a book or website) or by copying from a fellow student.

The Unfair Practice Procedure explains how an allegation of unfair practice should be investigated by an institution and what rights the student has in the process.

Having a procedure in place ensures that all cases are handled fairly and that students have the right to appeal to the University if they feel unhappy with the way an allegation had been handled by their institution.

Legitimate work

The degree & qualification of the Wales University can be deserved only through the prescribed inspection as per the norms of an unfair practice procedure. This is the procedure pointing out the misuse done by a student for giving examination as well as the casework such as plagiarism, collusion. The norm of the unfair practices procedure is delegating the exact direction of the search & investigation of the unfair practices. However, students have right to appeal the university if they are not satisfied with the decision.

Internet Information- www.cardiff.ac.uk/regis

A new single case record has been adopted for instances of unfair practice. Flow charts have also been developed to help guide staff through the procedure. These can be accessed from the resources section- Peter George

Collusion

A new single case record has been adopted for instances of unfair practice. Flow charts have also been developed to help guide staff through the procedure. These can be accessed from the resources section- Max Pereira

Legitimate Work

For the prescribing of the unfair practice procedure a pictorial presentation through the diagrams, chart is made based on the every new case of the record with the help of the resource section- Max Pereira

Conclusion

In this way internet application are leading of the unfair practices in the academic studies in the British universities. Norm of the University and undertaking the education facility in UK, it is helpful & commensurate for the development of the students in an international market. But students are not getting this fact in the right sense & making the self involvement in the unfair practice to complete the academic coursework. This is a serious offence as per the rules and regulations of education law in UK, which can destroy the career development of the student.

Recommendation

It is advisable to the educational institute that, they should arrange separate lectures for the overseas students to giving them training about the directions, expectations of the University and also give a briefly idea about unfair practices. So that students will failure to implement the same will lead to termination of the students, so as to reduce the unfair practices.

Critical Reasoning Ability

A)

Valid Arguments

1] All animals have four legs, (Premise)

Dog is a animal (Premise)

Therefore, Dog have four legs. (Conclusion)

Pattern: Logic

The group of animals is having four legs. Dog is one of that group. It means that dog have four legs.

2] All Bangladeshi people are Muslims, (Premise)

Salami is Bangladeshi. (Premise)

Therefore, Salami is a Muslim. (Conclusion)

Pattern: Cogent

The nationality of Bangladeshi all are Muslim. Salami is also a Bangladeshi. It means that salami is Muslim.

3] All F are G, (Premise)

X is F, (Premise)

Therefore, X is G. (Conclusion)

Pattern: Modus Ponens

The group of variable F is comprised in the G. X is a variable in F. It means that X is a variable of G.

4] If an exam comes, then students studies, (Premise)

An exam comes, (Premise)

Therefore, students studies. (Conclusion)

Pattern: Conditional Modus Ponens

Student's studies if an exam comes, because an exam comes, it means that students studies.

5] When there is a sun set, it is a marvelous day in Tundra, (Premise)

It is not a marvelous day in Tundra, (Premise)

Therefore, there is no sunset. (Conclusion)

Pattern: Modus Tollens

In Tundra it is a marvelous day when there is a sun set, in Tundra it is not a marvelous day, it means that there is no sun set.

B)

Fallacies

1] Topic A is under discussion. (Argument)

Topic B is introduced under the guise of being relevant to topic A (when topic B is actually not relevant to topic A). (Argument)

Therefore, topic A is abandoned. (Conclusion)

Pattern: Red Herring

Topic A & B are combined in the discussion, Due to the emergences of the topic B, topic A has not been completed.

2] Claim X is presented, (Argument)

Person A asserts that X may be true for others but is not true for him/her, (Argument)

Therefore, A is justified in rejecting X. (Conclusion)

Pattern: Relativist fallacy

The claim X is presented person A asserts that X may be true or others but is not true for him/her. The claim X is denied at the disposal of A. It does not mean that A is justified in rejecting X.

3] Event X has occurred (or will or might occur), (Argument)

Therefore, event Y will inevitably happen. (Conclusion)

Pattern: Slippery Slope

Event X has occulted, there is no relations of the occurrence of event Y to event X, it can say that, event Y will inevitable happen.

4] Person A accepts standard(s) S and applies them to others in circumstances(s) C. (Argument)

Person A is in circumstance(s) C (Argument)

Therefore, A is exempt from S. (Conclusion)

Pattern: Special Pleading

The statement is not legitimate as per the condition. When the person A accept standards S & applies them to others in the circumstances, when person A is in circumstance it does not mean that A is exempt from S

5] Xs with quality Q receive a great deal of attention or coverage in the media. (Argument)

Therefore, all Xs have quality Q. (Conclusion)

Pattern: Spotlight

The statement is not precise & accurate. Xs with the quality Q receive a great deal or attention or coverage in the media. It does not mean that Xs is having the quality Q.

Evaluations of two arguments given by the subject lecturer

1] The decline in the fertility rate is a further reason that immigration will become more and more important. According to Weston (2001), the fertility rate in this country has fallen from 3.5 live births per woman in 1961 to its lowest level ever, 1.8 babies per woman in 1999 and 2000. [(Source given by Lesley Roberts)/Cox, K & Hill, D (2004) EAP now!, Australia, Pearson Longman]

Analyzing the Structure

Immigration will become important in due course of the fall of the fertility rate. Based on the research done by Weston in 2001, it was 3.5 live births per women in 1961 & 1.8 babies per women in 1999 & 2000.

Here,

According to Weston (2001), the fertility rate in this country has fallen from 3.5 live births per woman in 1961 to its lowest level ever, 1.8 babies per woman in 1999 and 2000. (Premise)

The decline in the fertility rate is a further reason. (Intermediate Conclusion)

Immigration will become more and more important. (Conclusion)

Strengths

Desire of the people to immigrate in the different parts of the world. Flexible control on the live births per women. It is helpful to reduce the living population of the country.

Weaknesses

Here, decline in the fertility rate leading to immigration of the people. There is a serious fall in the rate of the fertility from 1961 to 1999-2000.
